Brake Repair & Service

Brakes are the one system on your vehicle you can never compromise on, and they are one of the most common repairs we handle at our Nieman Road shop in Shawnee. If you hear grinding or squealing, feel a pulse in the pedal, notice the pedal sinking toward the floor, or see a brake warning light, bring it in and we will tell you exactly what is worn and what is still good.

Fresh oil filter and drain plug service on a vehicle raised on a shop lift

Oil Changes & Scheduled Maintenance

The cheapest repair is the one you never need, which is why routine maintenance is the backbone of what we do. We perform conventional, synthetic-blend and full-synthetic oil and filter changes for cars, trucks, SUVs and vans of every brand, using the oil weight and specification your manufacturer calls for.

Check Engine Light & Engine Diagnostics

A check engine light is not a verdict, it is a starting point. A code tells us which circuit or system reported a fault — it does not tell us which part failed. At Donovan's we pull the codes, review freeze-frame and live data, and then actually test the circuit, sensor or mechanical system before we recommend replacing anything.

Automatic transmission supported on a transmission jack beneath a lifted vehicle

Transmission Service & Repair

Transmissions rarely fail overnight. Slipping between gears, delayed or harsh engagement, shuddering at highway speed, a burnt smell, or a red puddle on the driveway are all warnings you still have time to act on. Getting it looked at early is very often the difference between a fluid service and a rebuild.

Air conditioning manifold gauge set connected to a vehicle A/C system under the hood

A/C & Heating Repair

Kansas weather asks a lot of a vehicle's climate system: 100-degree July afternoons and single-digit January mornings in the same twelve months. We repair both halves of that system so your vehicle is comfortable and your windshield clears when it matters.

Multimeter probes testing battery terminals and charging system in an engine compartment

Batteries, Starting & Electrical Repair

If your vehicle cranks slowly, clicks, needs a jump, or dies without warning, the cause is usually one of three things — battery, starting circuit, or charging system — and they are not interchangeable. We test all three under load so you replace the part that actually failed.

Wheel alignment equipment mounted to a front wheel in a bright service bay

Suspension, Steering & Alignment

Pulling to one side, a crooked steering wheel, clunks over bumps, uneven or feathered tire wear, or a floaty ride after a Johnson County pothole season all point at the same group of parts. Worn suspension does not just feel bad — it eats tires and lengthens your stopping distance.

Underside view of a vehicle exhaust system, muffler and tailpipe on a lift

Exhaust & Muffler Repair

A loud exhaust is the obvious symptom; the real concern is that an exhaust leak can put carbon monoxide into the cabin and will usually set a check engine light by upsetting the oxygen-sensor readings. Road salt and Midwest winters are hard on exhaust systems, and rust-through is common on older vehicles here.

Pre-Purchase & Pre-Trip Inspections

Before you hand over money for a used vehicle, spend a fraction of it on an independent opinion. We put the vehicle on the lift and go through it as if it were about to be ours: engine and transmission condition, leaks, cooling system, brakes, tires, suspension and steering, exhaust, electrical, stored trouble codes, and evidence of previous collision or flood damage.
